The individual will hold an appointment with the Department of Surgery at UNC-CH. Active participation in clinical, education, and quality improvement activities through the Department of Surgery with NHRMC, SEAHEC, and UNC-CH is expected. The surgeon will join five general surgeons in a general surgery, trauma, and oncology based practice at NHRMC. Practice will include trauma and critical care coverage at a Level II Trauma Center with 1,800 annual trauma admissions. Additional certification in trauma/critical care is required. Acute Care fellowship desirable, as well as other experience with general surgical specialties. Academic rank and salary are dependent on training and experience. Hershey Medical Center and the Penn State Hershey College of Medicine seek an Acute Care Surgeon (trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care) our 7 member Division within the Department of Surgery. The Penn State Hershey Medical Center is a fully-accredited Level 1 Trauma Center providing clinical coverage for over 2,000 injured patients per year. The division is also responsible for management of patients in the surgical ICU and emergency general surgery while supporting an elective general surgery practice. We have funded active clinical trials, as well as, an ACGME accredited Surgical Critical Care fellowship since 1994. The successful candidate should be an outstanding clinician, energetic educator and dedicated researcher. Appointments will be at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Responsibilities include coverage of trauma, emergency general surgery, critical care coverage in a 30 bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit, research, graduate medical education. Interpersonal skills and teaching are vitally important. Preferred candidates will be board certified/eligible in Surgery with Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care. The Penn State Milton S. The successful candidate will join a group of seven surgeons based at Miami Valley Hospital, a 735-bed, ACS verified Level 1 Trauma Center with over 3,500 trauma patient admissions per year. This program is supported by thirteen Advanced Practice Clinicians, in-house radiology and interventional radiology, an attached inpatient rehabilitation facility and subspecialty support including plastics, maxillofacial, ob-gyn, and anesthesiology. Primary responsibilities include resident and medical student education, surgical and critical care of trauma patients, and emergency general surgery. There is opportunity for development of an active general surgical practice, as well as protected time for research. Qualified applicants must have completed an accredited surgical residency program and a fellowship in trauma/critical care, and have interest and experience in scholarly activity. The fellowship is a one year program based in the trauma center and Trauma/Surgical ICU at Cooper Hospital. Cooper serves as the only level I trauma center for the southern tier of New Jersey (approx 2.5 million people) with approximately 3000 admissions yearly, and also is South Jersey's major tertiary referral center for surgery and critical care. The fellowship is designed to provide strong education and training in both Surgical Critical Care and Trauma, with a broad patient exposure in both areas. Approximately 65% of the admissions to our 16 bed ICU are trauma, and the remainder a distribution of patients from Vascular, Oncologic, Head and Neck, Colorectal, and other surgical subspecialties. A strong Medical Critical Program provides opportuinty for multidisciplinary education, and Anesthesia Critical Care Faculty participate in both programs. There is a significant exposure to pediatric trauma , with more than 10% of our admissions under age 15 years, and a 6 bed PICU and dedicated pediatric critical care physicians assisting in the management of those paitents. The Fellows take in house call as a member of the Trauma and ICU team as do Trauma/Surgical Critical Care Faculty. Fellows enagage actively in the operative care of trauma patients, and perform bedside procedures/operations in the Trauma/ Surgical ICU. (Posted Aug 23, 2013) – Chandler Regional Medical Center (CRMC), a member of Dignity Health, is seeking highly qualified and evidence-based driven trauma surgeons to actively build the trauma and acute care surgery program. CRMC expects to receive Level I trauma designation early next year from the state of Arizona. A new patient tower is under construction, adding 96 beds and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2014. CRMC will be the only Level I trauma center in the area. Dignity Health recently hired the nationally renowned trauma surgeon Dr. Forrest “Dell” Moore to lead the development of our new Trauma Center in Chandler. We are looking for fellowship-trained trauma critical care surgeons, including those who will be finishing surgical critical care or acute care surgery fellowships in June 2014. We will also give serious consideration to general surgeons who have extensive interest and experience in the care of the trauma patient. Candidates must be American Board of Surgery board-certified or board-eligible. Leadership positions may also include the Director of Surgical/Trauma Critical Care and Director of Trauma Research. CRMC currently has 64,000 emergency department visits and expects between 1500 and 1800 trauma patients, of which 10-15% will be from a penetrating mechanism. Participation in research and outreach, as well as resident, medical student, and mid-level education is expected. We have excellent subspecialty support, including Barrow Neurological Institute neurosurgeons and fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeons from St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (also a Dignity Health hospital in downtown Phoenix). This is an exciting opportunity for physicians to help develop a new program and Level I Trauma Center! About the Position *Join a growing department of 5 trauma/critical care surgeons and 6 full-time physician assistants *Practice in a Level I Trauma Center at GMC *Collaborate with partners in Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery to deliver the region’s most advanced trauma care *Research and education are an essential component of this position Job Requirements *8-10 years of experience required *Previous leadership experience preferred GMC, the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. GMC, a Magnet Hospital, maintains the region’s only Level 1 Regional Resource Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatrics.
