(Posted Jun 6, 2016) – The Department of Surgery at Loyola University Health System in conjunction with Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital seeks an exceptional individual to join the Trauma, Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Division. Loyola is a busy Level 1 trauma center and ACS/ABA approved Burn Center located in Maywood, on the western edge of Chicago. The Division has an active Acute Care Surgery Service with an in house 24-7 attending presence. There is an ICU fellowship with plans to expand to become an AAST Acute Care Surgery fellowship. The clinical and educational programs are closely aligned with the Burn Shock Trauma Research Institute (BSTRI). The BSTRI programs include ongoing basic, translational and clinical trial activities in wound healing, acute kidney injury, fracture healing and alcohol associated injuries. There are 2 NIH T32 training grants within the BSTI in addition to NIH and DOD etc. funding totaling $6.2M (FY12). Since 2010, the Loyola Department of Surgery has significantly expanded with recruitment of new faculty and reconstituted programs in transplant, plastics, colorectal, HPB, vascular, endocrine and trauma surgery. A medical degree and board certification (and/or eligibility) in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care are required. This is a full-time faculty position. The Division consists of 13 faculty that staff an ACS verified Level 1 Trauma Center, a 30 bed critical care unit, and provides acute care surgical services. Albany Medical Center is the only tertiary care medical center and Level I trauma center in northeastern New York serving a catchment population of 3 million people with approximately 3500 trauma admissions per year. The 30 bed unit is a Critical Care unit and is composed of a Surgical ICU and Neuro ICU that accepts more than 1600 admissions per year. The distribution offers a wide-variety of cases including patients with trauma, elective and emergent vascular surgery, neurosurgical diseases and stroke, surgical oncology, and complex general surgical conditions (e.g.-severe pancreatitis, necrotizing fasciitis, etc.). In addition, the service staffs the separate cardiac surgical unit and vascular surgical ICU’s. The Chief will be responsible for the academic, clinical, and education activities of the Division. Candidates must be certified for general surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery or eligible for such certification Successful candidates will be expected to support and expand the trauma, emergency general surgery and surgical ICU clinical programs Carolinas Medical Center is the 874- bed, flagship hospital for the Carolinas HealthCare System, one of the nation's leading and most innovative integrated healthcare organizations. The medical center features a 29-bed dedicated Surgical/Trauma ICU and a separate 29-bed Neurosurgical ICU. Our Surgical Critical Care Service provides consultation and management services for over 1,000 patients annually, representing multiple surgical sub-specialties including neurosurgery, hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery, transplant surgery, surgical oncology, vascular surgery and others. Our Acute Care Surgery Service performs over 1,500 cases annually, and the F.H. "Sammy" Ross Trauma Center, our ACS verified Level I trauma program is the busiest in the state of North Carolina, with more than 3,000 adult trauma admissions and 1,700 operative procedures performed annually. Pediatric trauma care at The Levine Children's Hospital is an integral part of the trauma program, and the 234-bed children's hospital, located on the campus of the medical center, is an ACS verified Level II pediatric trauma center, with plans to achieve Level I designation in 2016. Carolinas Medical Center has served as a satellite campus for 3rd and 4th year medical students from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine since 2010, when the UNC School of Medicine-Charlotte Campus was established. All of our current acute surgeons have faculty appointments at both the medical school as well as the medical center. Faculty appointment will be at assistant professor or associate professor level, commensurate with training and experience. Our Department of Surgery currently sponsors an ACGME approved surgical critical care fellowship and anticipates initiation of an acute care surgery fellowship within the next 1-2 years. The medical center offers freestanding residencies in all of the major specialties including General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Orthopedics, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Our faculty are actively engaged in clinical, basic science, and epidemiologic research, as well as in the education of medical students, residents, and allied clinical practitioners. (Posted Jun 21, 2016) – Trauma/Surgical Critical Care/Acute Care - Upland, PA The Crozer Keystone Health Network is seeking to recruit a Trauma/Surgical Critical Care/Acute Care Surgeon to work with the Crozer Keystone Health Network, based out of Crozer Chester Medical Center in Upland PA. This is a full time opportunity at a 424-bed tertiary care community based teaching hospital. The Crozer-Chester Medical Center is a level II Regional Trauma Center, accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation and an ABA-verified adult and pediatric Burn Center. The Trauma Center treats approximately 2300 trauma and burn cases per year with a robust mix of blunt and penetrating trauma cases. The Regional Burn Center is separately covered by independent burn surgeons, however all burns arriving from the field are first evaluated by the trauma team. The trauma service is supported by dedicated surgical residency housestaff and full-time advanced practitioners. The trauma team is also supported by three full-time neurosurgeons, a dedicated orthopedic team and other subspecialists such as vascular surgery, interventional radiology, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, and OMFS. The trauma group also participates in acute care surgery coverage. This position will include responsibilities in Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery as well as Administrative responsibilities. The applicant must be fellowship trained in surgical critical care and be board certified (or eligible) in general surgery. A background and/or a strong interest in clinical research is a definite plus. This is an employed position. The Division of Acute Care Surgery manages the most seriously ill and injured surgical patients in the Carolinas HealthCare System and its surrounding geography within North and South Carolina.
