(Posted Jul 28, 2016) – Steward Health Care is currently seeking a physician for a Trauma Medical Director position at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, MA. This position will develop, coordinate and provide input on practice guidelines, policies and methodologies for trauma medical/surgical patient care, and implement improvements in trauma care offered to patients through both onsite review and benchmarking with TQIP data. The ideal candidate will have successfully completed a Trauma residency or fellowship, have 3-5 years of Trauma experience and must be a member of a national organization such as EAST or AAST. Candidate will also serve as Co- Director of the Critical Care and Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery. This position will require 50% clinical and 50% administrative duties and will participate in a trauma call coverage rotation. The candidate must be board certified in general surgery by the ABSS. Sinai Hospital, with its approximately 500 acute care hospital beds, is Maryland‘s third largest teaching institution. Sinai is located in the Northwest section of Baltimore and is part of a 5 institution healthcare system, Lifebridge Health, that includes three acute care hospitals, one rehabilitation and one nursing home facility. The Acute Care Surgery Division encompasses Trauma Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, and Emergency Surgery; each sub-division has a Medical Director. (Posted Aug 2, 2016) – The Indiana University School of Medicine's General Surgery Division is seeking a general surgeon with fellowship training in trauma/surgical critical care or acute care surgery and will be board certified/eligible in surgical critical care."Indiana University Health (IUH) Methodist has consistently been among the top-ranked institutions as graded by the University Health Consortium (UHC). For the past several years, IUH Methodist has admitted more than 3,500 trauma patients annually, placing it among the largest 5% of trauma centers by volume. There is also a busy Emergency General Surgery (EGS) Service - nearly as voluminous as the Trauma Service - that draws patients from the entire state. As a result, there are two in-house Acute Care Surgeons 24/7: one serves as the primary on-call Trauma Surgeon, and the other serves as the primary EGS surgeon, also serving as in-house backup for the Trauma Surgeon. IUH Methodist operates the largest neuroscience critical care units and hosts one of the largest critical care departments in the country. Both neurosurgical and orthopedic attending surgeons are in-house 24/7. Neurosurgical, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Radiology attending physicians are also physically in-house 24/7. There are 130 critical care beds throughout the institution. It has the first, largest, and most comprehensive intensive care patient electronic monitoring system (e-ICU) in Central Indiana. The hospital serves as the home base for a fleet of four LifeLine Helicopters as well as fixed wing transport capabilities. There are approximately 100,000 ED visits per year. IUH Methodist is the flagship of the statewide IU Health Healthcare Network and the evolving IU Health Trauma System. IU Health, in turn, has partnered with Indiana University to form an expanded multispecialty group called IU Health Physicians, which will serve as the employer for new acute care surgeons. Candidates would be expected to provide General Surgery and Acute Care Surgery (trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care) services in the ED, OR, ICU floor, and clinic to injured patients coming through the IUH Methodist system. In addition, there is an opportunity to establish an elective general surgery practice, as well. Candidates will be responsible for providing patient care, teaching residents and students in their specialty of trauma surgery and participating in clinical research in one of the largest medical schools in the country. In addition to diagnosing and managing acute and chronic illnesses, the Orthopedic Trauma Advanced Practitioner emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention; orders, conducts and interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests, and prescribes pharmacologic agents and non-pharmacologic therapies. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. *Performs and documents medical history and physical examinations on patients; establishes presumptive diagnosis which are to be countersigned by the responsible physician; reviews patient records. *Completes tertiary assessment on all newly diagnosed orthopedic trauma patients; s physicians to any changes in findings. *Makes complete chart entries on patient transaction, writes orders and records progress notes which will be reviewed and countersigned by the responsible physician within 24 hours. *Available for consultative visits with the patient and their family; serves as a resource person to the staff and physician; recommends changes in plan of care to facilitate optimum patient outcome. *Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed; s physician to test results requiring attention. *Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures; keeps physician informed of changes requiring intervention. *Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention. *Sutures wounds; assists with other operative procedures as directed by the physician. *Prepares and completes patient discharge summaries of patient hospital care within 24 hours of dismissal; has summaries cosigned by the responsible physician. *Participates in code traumas; makes rounds with the orthopedic trauma surgeon on a daily basis and as called upon within current scope of professional practice. *Completes follow up communication with sending/attending physician. *Triages patients and other referral center(s) telephone calls and provides consultation; may request consultation at the direction of the sponsoring physicians. *Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. *Complies with CLIA and OSHA clinical safety practices as well as administrative and facility regulations. QUALIFICATIONS: Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Master of Science degree in Nursing with current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska required. Certification with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for prescriptive authority required within 2 months of hire. Certification as Adult Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner preferred. Prior adult, trauma, orthopedic, or family practice experience preferred. Completion of Bryan credentialing and re-credentialing process required for employment. OR Graduate degree from a Physician's Assistant program required. Current licensure as a Physician Assistant required. Completion of Bryan credentialing and re-credentialing process required for employment.
