(Posted Jul 11, 2012) – The LifeBridge Health System, Department of Surgery, is recruiting for a Medical Director Trauma Surgery to join the Division of Acute Care Surgery at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore (SHB). The qualified individual should have completed a residency program in general surgery and a fellowship in trauma/critical care, be certified or eligible for certification in both specialties and have at least 4-5 years of experience in trauma/critical care. The well established trauma center at SHB is a Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) certified Level II regional adult trauma center with a volume of 1600 – 1800 patients per year. The Division of Acute Care Surgery at SHB covers the trauma service, the state of the art surgical ICU and emergency surgical services, with in-house availability of providers around the clock. The Medical Director Trauma Surgery will lead the efforts of the trauma center, be responsible for quality improvement, coordination of trauma center related services, community outreach, and will represent the trauma center and SHB at TraumaNet, the collaborative of all trauma centers in the State of Maryland. Sinai Hospital of Baltimore is the flagship Acute Care hospital of the Lifebridge Health System and serves the North-west corridor of the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area and Maryland. The hospital comprises close to 600 beds, a state of the art Emergency Department that handles over 82000 patient visits annually, and a full array of primary to tertiary care services in all medical specialties. SHB is the third largest independent academic and teaching hospital in the State of Maryland. In addition to 5 independent residency programs, the Office of Medical Education at SHB hosts clinical fellows in several specialties, as well as students from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and other national and international accredited medical schools. The qualified applicant will be eligible for an academic appointment at Hopkins and actively participate in the education of Sinai’s surgical residents, students, and other providers, and participate in statewide education through ATLS™, ATOM™, ASSET™ and other courses. SHB offers a unique opportunity to blend clinical, administrative and academic interests and lifestyle. The opportunity to develop an elective General Surgery Practice within the department is available, as are opportunities to be involved in outreach, hospital and departmental/program leadership. This is a full-time position as part of a nine-member group of general and trauma/surgical critical care surgeons who are part of the Department of Surgery at Emory University practicing on site at Grady. Primary responsibilities include participation in the burn unit along with the opportunity for emergency general surgery, trauma and critical care practice, tailored for the individual seeking this position. The Burn Unit admits nearly 500 patients a year and in a newly renovated facility is a Comprehensive Burn Center where patients are cared for from outpatient to ICU to Step-down by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, physical therapists and other ancillary staff. It is the only burn center in Georgia backed by a Level I Trauma Center, admitting over 3,000 patients a year. Nursing staff is trained in critical care with PALS and ABLS certification with over 200 years of experience in Burn care. We are the oldest surgical critical care fellowship in Los Angeles, having our program for over 30 years. CSMC is an ACS verified Level I trauma center and the opportunity exists to gain trauma and acute care surgery experience during the fellowship. Additional exposure to neurocritical care occurs in the CSMC Neurosurgical ICU and we recently added formal training and certification in bedside echocardiography for the fellowship. CSMC also recently expanded its cardiac transplantation program and it is now the largest in the country; an elective rotation in the Cardiac Surgical ICU presents the opportunity to learn how to manage ECMO and ventricular assist devices. The Burn and Wound center is the largest dedicated burn center in Missouri, and is associated with The Frank L. Mitchell, Jr., M.D. Trauma Center at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics, the only ACS-verified Level I trauma center in Central Missouri, with ACGME approved residencies in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. The Center, specifically designed for optimal burn care, is a dedicated 14 bed, state-of-the-art ICU complete with spacious dialysis ready rooms, on-site treatment room and therapy room, and sophisticated environmental controls amongst other clinical necessities. The Center provides in-patient care to approximately 200 acute burn injuries annually, one third of which are pediatric patients, while providing out-patient services to more than 400 burn related injuries a year in its clinic. Successful candidates will be Board Certified/Board Eligible in general surgery, with added qualifications in Burn Surgical Critical Care, or have demonstrated experience in the care of the acutely ill and injured and burn care. Building a collaborative burn and wound care service line for MU Healthcare is the vision for this position in conjunction with plastic and trauma surgery.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in becoming a clinician/scientist pursuing basic science or clinical research. This position would offer protected time for research endeavors (50/50 split). Trauma Care at GMC * Opportunity to join a multi-specialty group that sees approximately 1,600 adult and 400 pediatric trauma admissions per year from 44 counties throughout Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania * Level I adult/Level II pediatric trauma center with a multi-disciplinary team approach to trauma care that includes: - Trauma/Critical Care Surgery - Pediatric General Surgery - Orthopaedics - Neurosurgery - Emergency Medicine * Department of General Surgery includes an acute general surgery service, staffed by trauma/critical care and general surgeons * Trauma/Critical Care surgeons collaborate with medicine intensivists to staff 34-bed multi-disciplinary ICU (trauma, surgery and medicine) * Launched an eICU® program that will enhance physician's ability to care for patients in the HfAM and other intensive care units at GMC, GWV, as well as other hospitals throughout our region * The trauma program is supported by a hospital-based air-medical program with 5 helicopters Research at Geisinger Geisinger pursues an ambitious research agenda with the long-term goal of directly impacting the health of its patients. (Posted Aug 13, 2012) – The Department of Surgery of Emory University at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, is actively seeking qualified candidates for a faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This is a full-time position as part of a group of eight general, trauma, critical care and emergency general surgery surgeons. Clinical responsibilities include an active and broad-based general surgery practice in a setting with: a high volume of emergent general surgery, a Level I trauma service for a population of 5,000,000 in northwest Georgia admitting between 3,000-3,500 trauma patients a year, and a surgical critical care service. Additional responsibilities include supervision and teaching of trauma/surgical critical care fellows (three 1st year and three 2nd year fellows), Emory surgical residents, and medical/PA students. There are extraordinary opportunities for clinical research based on patient volumes and acuity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical research and/or have a MPH, MSc or similar degree; however, all candidates qualified by training should consider submitting curriculum vitae.
