(Posted Apr 13, 2013) – The Department of Surgery at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKC), in conjunction with its major teaching facilities, Truman Medical Center (TMC) and Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City (SLH) is in the process of expanding the Division of Acute Care Surgery and seeking applicants at the Assistant Professor level. The selected candidates would be expected to cover the trauma services and attend in the surgical intensive care units at both institutions. TMC and SLH are State of Missouri designated Level 1 trauma centers and serve the population of the greater Kansas City metropolitan area with a complex mixture of rural and urban trauma. UMKC supports several residencies and the candidate will have teaching responsibilities for general surgery residents and medical students. The preferred candidate should be board certified in General Surgery and have completed a Surgical Critical Care or Acute Care Surgery (ACS) Fellowship and be either board certified or eligible in Surgical Critical Care. Current Surgical Critical Care or ACS Fellows are encouraged to apply.
